The great thing about the interior design industry is that it is ever evolving, growing, changing. As anyone who follows me knows, I have a passion for making interior decorating and styling affordable and accessible for all budgets. Fortunately, homewares are more affordable than ever before with the big chain stores providing on trend pieces at prices that are extremely budget friendly. Increased competition can only mean good things for homewares devotees so let’s look at a few of my current favourites.
STYLKEA – LUXURY LOOKS AT FLAT PACK PRICES
You had me at luxury looks (and even more at flat pack prices …). Not only are the big stores getting on the affordable homewares train, exciting new innovators are entering the market such as Stylkea, which is designed and manufactured on the Gold Coast in Australia. Stylekea makes peel and stick overlay panels that help you get designer looks on a flat pack budget. The panels are designed to be a perfect fit and effortlessly customise classic IKEA pieces, including Malm, Kallax, Besta and more. They also sell a free size range to fit a huge range of other drawer fronts and cabinets.
TARGET HOMEWARES
I’ve always said that I can style a room with Target and make it look fabulous. This has never been more true than with the current homewares range on offer at Target. Shop for on trend bed linen, cushions, throws, candles, lighting and some fantastic kitchen and bathroom items.
KMART HOME
Kmart has burst out of the blocks of late with some incredible, affordable homewares. Not only can you find inspiring cushions, bedding, throws and decor pieces but you can also snaffle some amazing bargains on the furniture front, such as this Scandi Coffee Table at $29. If you’re shopping online you will also find plenty of Insta worthy inspo and you can shop by trend with your choice of Classic, Urban, Natural and Modern Classic. These items are so good I can feel a design board or two coming on, stay tuned!
ADAIRS
If you read my blog you will know that Adairs features quite regularly. They are a bit of a staple favourite of mine, producing up to the minute homewares at very affordable prices. Find classic bedding and towels or on trend looks to update your bedroom or bathroom seasonally, and grab a few pieces to liven up your living areas while you’re at it. Don’t forget the minis either, Adairs Kid’s range is always hard to go past and is updated on a regular basis.
SHACK – BEAUITFUL PIECES AT BEAUTIFUL PRICES
Shack is an old favourite of mine and is a well deserved entrant into this category. Shack has been operating since the early 1990s sharing their passion for beautiful pieces. Stocking a wide range of furniture and homewares, they incorporate pieces that are both beautiful and timeless. Choose furniture from their Mango Hardwood, French Provincial, Modern or Antique Chinese ranges. Find homewares such as soft cotton quilts, exquisite cushions, gorgeous silk flowers, decorator pieces, artwork, elegant lamps and mirrors, and create the ever popular Hamptons look with ease, among others. Shack can be found in various locations around Sydney or online.
